In my current role I am the marketing and business development lead for the Salt Lake City Psomas office. Psomas is a company of 750 people in 15 office throughout the Western U.S.

What are the rewards of your job?
Many people I meet and the various industries I get to learn about. The rewards of my job are connecting people to create meaningful work in our region. I enjoy meeting people who work in the A/E/C industry and connecting with owners who are looking to build or make changes to their spaces. I enjoy working with A/E/C professionals and helping them to connect beyond their technical expertise to the excitement of what is being created.

What are your challenges?
My challenge at the moment is familiarizing myself with this company and understanding how I can best engage my colleagues to meet the goals and challenges we see ahead.

What has been your most meaningful project?
My projects are the pursuit of the project. There are many individual pursuits that stand out over my career. Overall though it is the partnerships and ideas that we create as a team each time a project is pursued. The teams vary greatly based on the goals of the project. This variety of people, strategies and approaches to presenting each individual team is where I find great satisfaction and enjoyment.

How has SMPS membership helped you?
SMPS provides a network of colleagues and constant learning. When I started in this industry marketing departments were new and many of us were working as the sole marketer in our offices, it was crucial to have others that were facing the same challenges to talk with, learn from and grow with. Marketing in the A/E/C industry has evolved and SMPS has evolved yet continues to provide the same venue for growth, learning and engagement.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received
I used to keep a quote at my desk, that in essence said, what did you make happen today? I read that everyday and it motivated me to continue to make progress each day and to not wait for things to happen, but to make them happen, little by little and each and every day.

What’s the best career advice you’ve given?
You’ll have to ask someone else that question! I hope I’ve set an example of getting engaged in your work and your community.

What has contributed to your success?
Being surrounded by fantastic people.

What’s on your bucket list?
Summers off to explore, play, relax and create.

Guilty pleasure:
Chocolate (no guilt, just pleasure)
