Proposals
Written by Linda Hansen | Ensign Engineering and Land Surveying
We all know what a process it is to coordinate, research, and plan a winning proposal. We are required to follow the strict guidelines, we need to get shortlisted, and we need to be selected from that final interview. And, of course, time is always limited. Though the proposal is only a small portion of the success and the final presentation can enhance a win, most importantly, it is the words in the proposal and in that final interview/presentation that will take the cake. We need to prove our understanding while explaining key ideas and concepts and address specific issues.
Mike Plotnick wrote an article “Why the Words Matter—Six Reasons to Improve Your Proposal Writing.” He writes about the importance of engaging words and how to complete concise, compelling writing to convey messages. He also talks about how to improve the quality and consistency of proposals by using a few simple tactics, all of which are great reminders to those of us in the AEC industry. Please check out his article here. Happy writing!
