Name: Jane Healy
Company:  MARKETLINK
Title:  Consultant
Role:  Member

How long have you worked at your company?
Since March of this year

How long have you been an SMPS member?
Since July of this year

How would you describe your role/job?
I get to help different A/E/C clients in Utah and even California with various aspects of their marketing, including helping with proposals, managing social media, server organization, CRM updates, website updates, marketing materials preparation, etc. I would say I do a lot of the little, behind-the-scenes tasks that a lot of people don’t like to do, but I love to do, because I love keeping things organized.

What are the rewards of your job?
There are many rewards of my job but I’ll just name a couple. First of all, I love the people I get to work with, colleagues and clients alike.  I also love that I get to work from home and on my own (or my kids’) schedules.  Finally, I like seeing how the things I/we do help make life easier for our clients, allowing them to be able to do their own jobs.

What are your challenges?
As I mentioned, I love organization, which extends to my life in general. I like routine and schedule. So, my biggest challenge is when things come up that throw everything off balance, which is basically the nature of marketing in the A/E/C industry. I don’t do well with stress but I am trying to get better at it.

What has been your most meaningful project?
I wouldn’t say there is one most meaningful project, but I love when all of the time and hard work put in on a project (proposal, award submittal, etc.) results in a win.

How has SMPS membership helped you?
It has been fun to meet new people and network a little bit at the few events I have attended so far.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?
To take a chance (on a job, a person, a project, etc.)

What’s the best career advice you’ve given?
Can’t say I have ever given anyone career advice.

What has contributed to your success?
I think all of the connections I have to the industry have contributed to my success by giving me exposure to many different aspects of the A/E/C industry. I’ve enjoyed seeing the differences in how Engineers, Architects and Contractors function and how they all work together along with how Marketing benefits each of those fields.

What’s on your bucket list?
I have always wanted to travel to Italy.

What was your childhood dream?
Really, just to live the American dream, which I would say I am doing: living a comfortable, regular old life with a family, a home, a job, (and a dog).

Guilty pleasure: what can you not live without?
Fountain diet coke and baked goods
