How long have you worked at your company?
2 years
How long have you been an SMPS member?
Since October 2025
How would you describe your role/job?
Professional storyteller. I translate complex energy engineering concepts into impactful messaging that connects with our clients.
What are the rewards of your job?
I love that my job allows me to continually learn and adapt to the ever-changing marketing landscape. There’s always something new to explore—from process improvements to creative strategies.
What are your challenges?
Finding the right balance between long-term brand-building activities and the short-term, deadline-driven nature of proposal work. It’s a constant juggling act!
What has been your most meaningful project?
Redesigning our company website. The goal was to present our broad range of services in a way that’s both clear and compelling—without overwhelming the reader. It was so rewarding to take highly technical engineering content and make it resonate with different audiences, whether that’s a facilities manager, sustainability professional, or CFO. I loved weaving together all the creative details—from language to imagery—to create a cohesive, engaging experience. It also allowed me to work cross-departmentally and connect with many engineering subject matter experts.
How has SMPS membership helped you?
I first learned about SMPS through the Utah Annual Conference, and it immediately felt like a relief to be surrounded by people who truly “get it.” Everyone faces the same day-to-day challenges—capture planning, proposal development, keeping SMEs accountable to content deadlines—and it was a great mix of learning and camaraderie (somewhat like group therapy!).
What’s the best career advice you’ve received?
Never be afraid to ask questions or challenge how something has always been done. Innovation often starts with curiosity.
What’s the best career advice you’ve given?
“Good” marketing isn’t always about making things sound fancy—it’s about making them clear to the consumer. Clarity always wins.
What has contributed to your success?
A mindset of continuous improvement and curiosity. Marketing evolves quickly—what worked five years ago doesn’t necessarily work today. Staying open to change and always learning has been key.
What's on your bucket list?
To hike the Tour du Mont Blanc—a 10-day hut-to-hut trek through France, Italy, and Switzerland. You get incredible scenery, mountain air, and amazing food and wine. It’s the perfect adventure!
What was your childhood dream?
To have a cow. I don’t have one (yet), but I do have a 120-pound Saint Bernard—so I suppose I’ve come pretty close!
Guilty pleasure:
Reality TV and peanut butter cups—preferably enjoyed together.
