Amber Craighill | Secretary
Amber Craighill, Associate and Marketing Director of BHB Structural, is SMPS Utah's secretary and one of our resident people persons. She organized the SMPS Utah Emerging Professionals Group (EPG) and continues to serve on its committee.
How long have you worked at your company?
9.5 years
How would you describe your role/job?
My husband would say I get paid to make friends and that’s pretty accurate.
What are the rewards of your job?
The people! I love all the different kinds of people I get to meet and work with.
What are your challenges?
I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, and I wish I had Hermione’s time-turner so I could be at multiple places at once.
What has been your most meaningful project?
I started the SMPS Utah Emerging Professionals Group (EPG) as a way for newer AEC marketers to make friends and get more training. It’s intimidating being a newer person among so many people who have known each other for years. We have had (and currently have!) amazing committee members, and I have definitely aged out of this group; however, they’ll have to kick me out. It’s like my baby, and I’m so invested in its success.

What led you to serve on the Board?
I have served on many association boards, and SMPS is one of my favorites. It’s a well-run organization, and the opportunity to work with so many talented volunteers is fun. I’ve learned a lot!
Guilty pleasure: what can you not live without?
During the pandemic, I have curated the perfect nighttime snack mix: dried mangoes, Dot’s pretzels, and dark chocolate chips.
