How long have you worked at your company? 1.5 years
How long have you been an SMPS member? 3 months
How would you describe your role/job? All things marketing and business development for FOCUS. I support our eight production departments with marketing initiatives to strengthen existing client relationships & grow their client base and department revenue.
What are the rewards of your job? Learning about the AEC industry and seeing our company grow. It’s particularly gratifying to see some of our newer departments as they are starting to grow and gain momentum.
What are your challenges? Balancing new business development efforts with production bandwidth.
How has SMPS membership helped you? Since I’m new to the AEC industry, I’ve truly valued the educational opportunities. I’m also enjoying the networking opportunities now that we are able to have more in-person events.
What’s the best career advice you’ve received? Don’t be afraid to fail. It happens to everyone and it’s where we can learn our most valuable lessons.
What’s the best career advice you’ve given? Watch what I do … then do the opposite. You’ll fail a lot less often.
What has contributed to your success? Mostly the amazing people I have the opportunity to work with. I’m surrounded by superstars who make my life pretty easy.
What’s on your bucket list? Cycling the Pacific Coast Highway from Canada to Mexico.
What was your childhood dream? To quote George Costanza, “… I always wanted to pretend that I was an architect.”
