President's Message September 2022
Happy September! It is hard to believe we are already here, and my position as your Utah Chapter SMPS President has begun. I am jumping in with some fear, but I am comforted knowing I have the support and guidance of a strong, trustworthy board and a diverse membership with so much to offer.
I hope we will soon experience some pleasant daytime temperatures and cooler evenings—hoodie weather as most of us know this time of year—cozy and comfortable. I like to think of SMPS as being that familiar, comfortable spot in our professional arenas where we connect with friends and colleagues and where we build new relationships and rekindle old ones.
One way to get the most out of your membership and feel comfortable is to be actively engaged and involved. Attend events, participate in surveys, and share your skills and thoughts. You might not realize how much you can give and gain by being on a committee (even if it is for just a few months) or participating in a special event.
Let’s start this first quarter strong by supporting one another and participating at any level, which will result in a better experience for all. On the side, enjoy some roasted marshmallows in your favorite hoodie!
