I have been a proposal specialist/manager for more than 11 years. I have a long history in office management and started my career at J-U-B ENGINEERS in 2011. I have been providing proposal development and support since. In 2018, I was promoted to Corporate Proposal Manager. I have loved my job. While I could do without the stress, I also love working with a team for a common goal.
I have had the opportunity to help develop tools and resources to improve our proposal development process. In 2018, we won 20% of our submittals with an average cost of $23K per pursuit. After applying these improvements to our process, we have improved our wins to 50% and have decreased our proposal costs to an average of $13K. I am proud to be a part of these improvements and progress. While we still have room to continue to improve, the rate of improvement we have seen has been very gratifying.
I have been a part of SMPS since 2021. SMPS has been a valuable resource in keeping up with industry trends, new AEC marketing processes, and networking with professionals that do the same thing I do. SMPS also helps me navigate challenges within my role as Proposal Manager. My challenges are not unique to my position—meeting deadlines, controlling the chaos, juggling the workload are all common challenges that surface regularly. However, I also “love it when a plan comes together” and we all see and feel the success of completing the process.
A little about me, I love Disneyland. This is my favorite place to be to escape the “real” world and while I love going with friends and family, I also love solo Disney trips that allow me to do whatever I want without the pressure of pleasing anyone else. I have three trips planned this year and I can hardly wait! (I’m the one in the white shirt).
