President's Message June 2023

For me, it is difficult to believe we are entering into the last quarter of our 2022–2023 SMPS Board year! Where is the time going? All I can say is WOW! I must be having a lot of fun, because as the saying goes, “Time flies when you are having fun!” While enjoying the occasional warm rays of the spring sun, and looking forward to the summer in a few weeks, I wanted to take a moment to let each of you know how grateful I am, as a member and as President of this remarkable association, for the individuals whose unwavering commitment to excellence continues to drive this amazing organization forward.

The growth and friendships I have made individually and collectively as President is a testament to our volunteers' and members' commitment to SMPS. I am now more educated in representing an association, I feel mentally stronger when handling uncomfortable situations, and I am more confident talking in front of groups. I certainly would not have become any of this without the guidance and support of the current Board and SMPS members. Our members and member volunteers, our sponsors and our guests, are all vital to the health and wellbeing of our SMPS Utah community, and we each have the responsibility to help ensure the resources and support continues as we each navigate the A/E/C industry.

The Call for Nominations recently went out for the 2023–2024 Board, and it was heartwarming to see the nominations and interest in the chair positions for the upcoming year.

Let us all continue to grow at a professional level within SMPS alongside our friends and associates. SMPS is celebrating 50 years, and SMPS Utah turns 31! This says a lot for a professional organization at a national and local level, so make the most of your membership!

Wishing you all a wonderful summer season.

Sincerely,

Linda Hansen
President, SMPS Utah
Business Development Coordinator, Ensign Engineering & Land Surveying
