Role in SMPS?
Proud member

How long have you worked at your company?
About 2 years

How long have you been an SMPS member?
About 2 years

How would you describe your role/job?
As a marketing professional, my role is to promote our services and brand. I focus on developing a strong brand identity, analyzing the target market, and creating effective marketing strategies. I generate leads through various channels, manage our online presence, and build relationships with clients. Additionally, I analyze campaign performance and report on key metrics to refine our marketing efforts. My goal is to increase visibility, attract new clients, and contribute to the overall growth of our business.

What are the rewards of your job?
My role provides the rewards of impact, creativity, professional development, relationship-building, measurable outcomes, personal satisfaction, variety, and career growth potential.

What are your challenges?
Working in the AEC industry, which is heavily weighed on relationship building, traditional marketing tactics often yield the best results. However, the modern tools we have available are only softly proven. Thus far it has been challenging to test and measure which digital means are most effective to reach our target audience without impacting relationship building.

What has been your most meaningful project?
There is a sense of pride in every project that I have encountered with R&O. However, when the project benefits a marginalized, sensitive or growing group, such as an elementary school or senior living community, it really means more. Being able to attend ribbon cuttings at these places you see and feel the direct impact we have on our community. And that feeling is intangible

How has SMPS membership helped you?
I came from outside of the AEC industry and becoming a member of SMPS was invaluable in adapting to current trends, best practices and proven marketing tactics within the industry. In addition, the relationships I’ve made, along with the cross industry learning and ongoing knowledge is abundant.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?
“Trust the process, so long as your are continually positioning yourself, you are exactly where you should be.”

What’s the best career advice you’ve given?
When the weight of the building you are constructing is too heavy, worry about the 2"x4” you are carrying. All things massive are still assembled a piece at a time.

What has contributed to your success?
Resilience and will and a never-ending desire to learn and accomplish more: all in the name of improving the quality of life of those around me. This is in addition to a great network of leaders from whom to learn.

What’s on your bucket list?
I don’t know that I have one. When there is something I want or want to do, I’ll think on it for some time. If the thought is still there, it’s time to put it into planning.

What was your childhood dream?
To play in the NHL!

Guilty pleasure: what can you not live without?
Watching my children learn and experience the world. And skiing & things with motors!
