How long have you worked at your company?
I have been an intern since May, so 5 months.
How long have you been an SMPS member?
About a couple months.
How would you describe your role/job?
I’d describe my role as supporting the daily operations of an office and acting as admin support for the staff.
What are the rewards of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is that every day is different. From answering phones to assisting in data entry and expense reports, I enjoy how I’m never bored.
What are your challenges?
One challenge I’ve experienced is being new to the AEC industry. This is my first ever internship, so being around engineers and others who have years of experience ahead of me is challenging. However, I’m in charge of my own learning and development—I’ve dedicated time to learning about the AEC industry and I’m pretty confident I know what people are talking about now.
What’s the best career advice you’ve received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to take personal responsibility for making success happen. No one is in charge of your life or career, except you.
What has contributed to your success?
My work ethic has highly contributed to my success, such as reliability, responsibility, and taking initiative.
What's on your bucket list?
I’d like to go skydiving in Hawaii one day.
Guilty pleasure:
Watching cheesy, romantic movies. My all-time favorite is The Notebook.
