Board Role: 2025–2026 President
How long have you worked at your company?
5 months
How would you describe your role/job?
My role is all about building connections—between people, ideas, and opportunities. I help lead the marketing efforts for our company by guiding proposals, strengthening our brand, supporting client relationships, and collaborating with leadership to improve how our teams work together.
What are the rewards of your job?
I love being part of an industry that shapes communities, and I enjoy helping communicate the passion and expertise behind the work we do. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is the variety. Every day brings new challenges, opportunities, and experiences. new opportunities to learn and grow. Being involved in so many different aspects of the business continually pushes me to learn, grow, and build meaningful relationships along the way.
What are your challenges?
One of the challenges of my role is balancing many moving pieces while keeping up with an industry that is always evolving. Whether it is learning new technologies, developing proposals that accurately showcase our team’s expertise, or coordinating with busy project teams, communication is key. Working through those challenges and finding ways to bring people together is also what makes the job so rewarding.
What has been your most meaningful project?
There have been so many meaningful projects throughout my career making it difficult to choose just one, but they all share something in common. The projects that stand out most to me are the ones built on strong collaboration, where everyone worked toward a shared goal and my contributions were valued as part of the team’s success. Those experiences are the most rewarding because they not only lead to successful outcomes, but also create lasting relationships and opportunities for growth.
How long have you been an SMPS member?
5 years
What led you to serve on the Board?
I initially hesitated to serve on the Board because I felt there were others more qualified than me. But after talking with mentors and peers in the industry, I realized it was an opportunity to give back to a community that has helped me grow professionally and personally. I wanted the chance to support others the way so many people have supported me throughout my career.
How has SMPS membership helped you?
I came into the industry later in my career, and SMPS Utah played a huge role in helping me quickly understand the industry, its trends, and the unique nuances that come with it. Through SMPS, I was also able to build a strong network of professionals who have been incredibly supportive and influential in my growth throughout different roles in my career. What stands out most to me is the genuine willingness of people within SMPS to share their knowledge, encourage others, and help each other succeed. I have not experienced another organization that supports its members and industry professionals in quite the same way.
What has contributed to your success?
I believe adaptability has been one of the biggest contributors to my success. Over the years, I have experienced changes in leadership, company transitions, and evolving responsibilities. Being willing to adjust, learn new things, and step in where support is needed has helped me continue to grow and provide value in different roles and environments.
What’s on your bucket list?
My bucket list is always growing. I would love to get better at golf and pickleball, and there are still many off-roading adventures and destinations I want to experience. But at the top of the list is taking a photography tour through Africa—it would be an incredible opportunity to combine my love photography with a desire to travel and have more adventures.
What was your childhood dream?
Growing up, my dream was to play professional basketball in the NBA. That dream faded as I realized the league was not actively recruiting short, unathletic players. Even so, my love for sports and competition has never really gone away.
Guilty pleasure: what can you not live without?
A smothered burrito from my favorite Mexican restaurant.
