The training is specifically designed to equip the Marketer/Proposal Professional with the insight to manage the complexities and nuances of these pursuit types.

Melanie Nelsen, CPSM, Regional Marketing Leader, Horrocks-
Melanie has 25 years of experience in marketing for architecture, engineering, and construction firms and is a Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM). Her expertise encompasses crafting compelling proposals, driving business development initiatives and strategy, coaching for interview presentations, and effectively managing a team. Recently, she was honored as the 2025 Marketer of the Year by the SMPS Utah Chapter. In her role at Horrocks, she works with the “Innovative Pursuits” team pursuing complex alternative delivery projects across the US. As a marketer, she has pursued over $3 Billion in alternative delivery projects from both the construction and design sides.

Alex Smith, Sr. Marketing Coordinator, Horrocks
Hailing from Salt Lake City, Alex has been studying and participating in visual culture and the built environment for over 15 years, initially as an art historian and now as an AEC marketing professional. A member of the SMPS Utah Chapter since 2021, Alex is a strategic communicator and enjoys the highly collaborative aspect of alternative delivery pursuits. Currently, she supports the Horrocks’ “Innovative Pursuits” team on key, strategic projects nationwide.
