So many AEC leaders assume their burnout stems from chronic anxiety, back-to-back meetings, endless workloads, day-to-day operations, and the pressure of managing stakeholders, clients, and teams.
But these are symptoms of a deeper-rooted issue: loss of identity.

As visionary leaders, we are built differently. Our self-esteem is fueled by accomplishment, accolades, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible. But when success is our only goal, what is left of who we are?
The truth is that professional burnout can be a signal. A deep gut feeling that the way you are operating day-to-day isn't sustainable. During our time together, I will share my defining corporate marketing story and why I feel called to speak on burnout, and introduce three guiding phases AEC leaders go through to identify, heal, and prevent burnout.

Part 1: Identify Burnout
Share what the current AEC research is saying about burnout. Identify the signs and symptoms of burnout and why we may have over-identified with corporate systems, taking them on as our whole identity.

Part 2: Heal Burnout
Learn why identifying professional values, honoring your gifts, and leveraging your intuitive leadership can empower you to shed the old ways of living and working so you can do less of what you hate and more of what makes your career fulfilling and aligned.

Part 3: Prevent Burnout
Audit your professional values, gifts, and intuition against your past programming and broader corporate systems to start making micro changes toward a life and career that aligns with who you are, not who you were told to be.

Professional burnout becomes less about day-to-day responsibilities and more about the broader corporate systems and past programming outside ourselves. When we give ourselves permission to abandon what doesn't honor our professional values, gifts, and gut feelings, it enables us to design our home and professional lives on our terms. That is the greatest gift we can give back to ourselves as we heal and prevent burnout moving forward.

Amber Plant, Burnout Consultant, Workshop Facilitator & Speaker with Amber Plant LLC

After building national brands and leading large-scale marketing campaigns, Amber's professional journey was at its peak. But deep down, she knew her career accolades had become her identity, and something was calling her to realign with a deeper purpose. She was a burnt-out corporate marketer and founder running on autopilot until trauma forced her to hit pause. It was finally time to ask herself:
"Who am I living for?"

She founded her female-owned consultancy, Amber Plant LLC, to guide burnt-out founders and leaders to realign with their values, gifts, and intuition so they can be empowered to work, live, and make decisions that align with who they are instead of who they were told to be. Through her work, she focuses on burnout research, education, and intimate communities for support to bring greater awareness to the professional community in Utah.
