FIXING 500 WEST: Homelessness Amidst Downtown Revitalization
Salt Lake City’s Station Center District— the area between the Intermodal Hub and the Rio Grande — is poised for significant revitalizations. The city, the county and a numbers of developers plan for new growth, new opportunity, and vibrant urban experience. The A/E/C community can look forward to a large investment in infrastructure, and plans for office, retail, mixed use, and public buildings. But when?
The challenge will be structuring a plan that will also accommodate the large concentration of homeless-service providers in the area, and remediating the growing health concern that is a derivative of caring for hundreds of people in immediate distress.
SMPS has gathered representatives from the key players in the community to discuss their immediate and long range plans for this area. Join us to hear from:
- Salt Lake County - Shaleane Gee
- Salt Lake City - David Litvack
- Pioneer Park Coalition - Soren Simonsen
- Salt Lake City RDA - Justin Belliveau
- LandForge Development - Ben Magelsen
